CommuniTEA for Change:

Advancing Maternal Health Equity

Saturday, May 10, 2025 | 2:00–5:00 PM | Calvin Smyre Educational Conference Center 720 Westview Drive SW, Atlanta, GA 30314

By Invitation Only

About the Event

Hosted by Dr. Shalon’s Maternal Action Project, CommuniTEA for Change is a high-impact, solutions-driven convening designed to address Georgia’s maternal health crisis and drive systemic transformation—especially for Black women and birthing people. Georgia continues to rank among the worst states in the nation for maternal mortality, with Black women more than twice as likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than white women. This crisis demands more than awareness—it demands collective action.

This flagship gathering brings together a powerful cross-section of maternal health leaders: policymakers, healthcare professionals, advocates, and faith leaders from across the state and beyond. Together, we will reflect on Georgia’s maternal health landscape, spotlight promising innovations, and build shared strategies to protect and support Black families.

Who Should Attend

Public officials, healthcare providers, advocates, doulas, nurses, midwives, policy shapers, educators, and community members committed to justice in maternal health.
