The Legacy Study

At Dr. Shalon's Maternal Action Project, we are committed to driving impactful research that addresses the critical issue of maternal mortality within our community.

This initiative, in partnership with Morehouse School of Medicine, focuses on identifying adults whose mothers tragically passed away during childbirth.

The purpose is to shed light on their experiences.

This Research Matters

Sadly, the loss of one’s mother during childbirth is a devastating reality for far too many. What's even more disheartening is the lack of recognition of this trauma by the medical community and so many others.

The Maternal Mortality Legacy Study seeks to change this narrative by amplifying the voices of those directly affected.

By understanding the lived experiences of adults who have lost their mothers during childbirth, we can begin to address the gaps in support and services for this population. Through our findings, we aim to advocate for greater awareness, recognition, and resources to support individuals and families navigating this profound loss.
